Just finished the game and I need to leave a review about my thoughts because the writing is so sooooo good. I didn't think the final where we leave IT would make me emotional but it was heartbreaking; despite all the suffering IT put us through I felt bad for abandoning it, it wasn't until the protagonist describes how it was the following weeks after leaving IT that I found myself on the verge of tears. I have never been into a romantic relationship but maybe I did experience something similar to a break up because when I read how MC would sometimes think about it, blame themselves, miss it and go back to the alley crying I had a lump in my throat.

I loved some of the alternative endings, especially the ones where IT ends up having a living doll kitten to take care of and when MC lets IT fed upon an unlucky stranger and both begin a new life together, letting IT eat at its heart content. I have so many questions though:

Which names would the doll kitten and the one eye kittens have if they had played more relevant roles in the story?

+ Does IT hate dogs simply because it has the form of a cat or did something happen to feed this hatred?

+ Can other animals aside from rats and cats take nightmare-ish forms (leaving the fact that all those scenarios were made up in our head)?

+ How would life be if we had kept IT and it lived with us (death and suffering never ending loop aside)?

+ IS the green-hazel eye kitten a parallel to IT (how it could have been - their relationship or IT itself- if the devilish cat wasn't toxic)?

+ Did MC adopted a cat similar to IT as way to cope or is their similar appearance merely coincidental? Even if it's a coincidence I can't help but imagine MC will sometimes look at the kitten and be reminded of IT

I know it portrays a toxic/abusive relationship and it does a great job at making it realistic because - while we know it enjoys making us suffer - it is true IT cares for us in a twisted way; both feeding our craving of not being left completely alone while belitting ourselves so we don't get enough confidence that we can and deserve better and ultimately abandon it. His (can we refer to IT as he/him besides using it/its?) power relies on having someone, so the fact his roars and threats turn out to crying meows could be both a manipulating tactic to make MC feel pity and join its side again and/or real sadness and deseperation to keep the human who did its existence entertaining.

Still, I can't help but love this diabolical cute, selfish, gaslighting, jealous, possessive and cruel kitty. Now that I have ended the game I feel that emptyness one has when they finish a really good series/book and I miss having IT if that makes sense? I wish there was more content about this evil baby out there or the story was longer but I am glad with what the game offers.

Anyway, thank you for this wonderful game that may become something I come back to play every once in a while. I'll cope with the hole IT has left in my heart by drawing my kitty alongside other yandere characters I like (hopefully my eldritch kitten will learn to share its human,,,probably not >.<)

Thank you so much for the lovely review!

- I didn't want to make any name suggestions since I didn't want there to be a canonical name for the cat(s) and I also like seeing what other people come up with!

- It seems to conveniently be playing up its cat identity, but really it's just extra bitter and jealous that the MC abandoned it in the alley and then went to go enjoy looking at dogs instead XD

- It depends on whether the cat wants to manipulate the MC's perception of another being

- IT can't help its possessive nature. Eventually if the MC ever brought any person or other pet into their life, the cat would fall back into its manipulative tendencies. The only way things would stand a chance of working out is if the MC isolated their self from the world and spent the rest of their life with the cat ;_;

- It was important to me that the green-hazel eyed kitten looked like IT for a few reasons. One was that black cats get a lot negative stereotypes so I wanted to end with a positive portrayal of one XD But more importantly, the MC letting in something so similar in appearance to IT is meant to show how far they've come in healing after the events of the game. Like how people experience horrible relationships at times and sometimes it can make them shy away from others, but a part of healing is acknowledging that not everyone is like the ones who cause harm. Every single relationship is a risk. People won't know what they're getting into until they're already deep in enough to see someone's true colors. That's kind of why I wanted there to be a slight moment of fear in the Player that the ending is yet another daydream, since the kitten is so similar to IT and is even missing an eye like IT did in the final confrontation. Getting to know someone can lead to something that could ruin a life in more ways than one. Or it can lead to a strong and beautiful relationship that can last for years and years, changing all parties involved for the better. We can only ever hope for the latter while being prepared to combat the former.

- Adopting a kitten that looks like IT is more coincidental for the MC than as a way to cope, since they were already on the path to healing when they encountered the kitten. Both the kitten and the MC have been hurt, but now they can heal together.

Thank you for the fun questions! I get a little sad after finishing a long game or story that I was really invested in, too. Like: "What am I supposed to do now??" But I'm glad that you liked the game and the story that much.

Thank you so much for playing!

I guess I didn't listen to that warning :)

There will be a Part 2 but its a Nope from there

Really good visual novel

Thank you so much for giving the game a try! I hope you're enjoying it so far!

I really enjoyed this game. All the endings are nicely made. The visuals and writing itself are really good. The parts where the mc speaks of his past and of all the crap that has happened to him and how he feels kinda got to me in a strange, but pleasant way. I would absolutely recommend to anyone who like visual novel's style games. Kudos to the developer.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the game and the story!

I really like this game genuinely. It kept me stumped for a day or two but the ending was sorta emotional for me. Some parts of it reminded me of a relationship I used to have, but overall I genuinely enojoyed this game a lot.

I'm glad the game and its story resonated with you. Hopefully in a good way! Thank you so much for playing!

Played this four months ago, but I realized no one can actually see reviews, so I'm reposting mine here(light spoilers):

This game is truly, genuinely amazing. I was not expecting to find what is probably now one of my favorite games of all time as a random visual novel that's FREE. I played this for about three hours, but it sure uses its time VERY effectively. Vague spoilers ahead, but I love how this game does horror. Although you have this cat that is brutally murdering you and causing horrible things to happen, at the beginning, I still see a cute cat. These adorable feline friend interactions are littered all throughout the game, and even with the numerous horrible things happening to me I still just could not get over the fact that it still is a cat, and I still ended up cycling through every single ending of taking the cat home and trying to befriend it before I even got to the others. The fact that you can still hear it meow and do numerous cat things just makes me want to befriend it more, and even to the very end, when the tone had slowly and steadily shifted, when the cute cat noises were brought out it still would pull at my heart. The violence is 10/10 by the way, I love the numerous sorts of terrifying scenarios, and how you can even see the trauma of past endings leaking into your interactions, it's sick as hell. The title screen which you are taken to every time you get an ending does a great job at illustrating how I felt throughout the game, where at first you see a cute cat, and the more endings you go through the more deranged it gets, until it's finally DO NOT TAKE IT HOME. Fully mirroring how although it's a cat, your determination to befriend it in some way slowly switches to concentrate more on defying it and escaping, getting a good ending for yourself by any means. Although you want that from the start, it's crazy how the tone slowly shifts. And let me tell you, the story for this game was absolutely top notch. It had one of those answer all your questions part near the very end and it did not disappoint, some of the biggest plot twists ever. It is literally insane how good this game's story is. The ending was also absolutely bananas, it was kind of sad in a way seeing what ends up happening for the sort of first half of the ending. Though to briefly touch on the absolute final part of the game, man I have never had my face turn to pure happiness so quickly. Absolutely top notch game, the soundtrack can be a little basic at times but it is absolutely criminal this game is free, play it.

:') You got me all teary-eyed, haha!

Thank you so much for your kind words and for reposting them. I kind of forget that reviews are a thing sometimes since they're not very obviously accessible.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game and appreciated the story. I wanted the cat to be insidious with it deceptive cuteness, using it to pull the MC/Player in, so I'm happy I managed to do so :3 I'm also really glad to hear you liked the plot twist and that the ending made you happy!

Thank you again for your review and for playing the game!

Damn I wasn't expecting you to reply, I don't even know what to say! Thanks for making such an amazing game!!!

i havnt played this game and i wont but........imma shoot that cat

Omg what the sigma I played this as soon as I downloaded it because I knew  that if I didn't I wouldn't play it at all BUT DAMN AM I GLAD I DID I'm extremely picky with games so I was so so so impressed with how much this captured my attention. oh and the way the visuals were crafted so well ahhhh!! anyway my favorite part was the portrayal of emotions and the shock I had experienced, especially during  the part with the dogs massive ass eyes (lowkey froze for a lil while)and i was even petting it with my cursor and then THAT happened ofc I think the main factor of that shock was I didn't read a singular part of description because the cute cat on the cover had lured me in instantly  & I just couldn't help myself.  And not to say the game is lacking I NEVER WOULD but some parts were kind of like.. uh I dunno stereotypical?? not to say that affected the experience much it just kind of made me stop for a moment and think back on every other time I've seen that same picture used or the same ever so slightly cheesy line of dialogue used in a similar context (i only remember this happening 2 or 3 times though so). Of course though the good overweighs the bad by miles and most of the content is pretty original in my eyes at least. halfway through i thought id have trouble sleeping tonight but now i think ill just fall asleep appreciating how good this is, genuinely though I've never ever been so satisfied with a game.

ALSO personal ramble cuz i cant help myself . got oddly aggressive over the mouse getting hurt especially when its face showed fear, so much so that I accidentally bit through my lip and had to take a break to cool off. No I do not forgive myself for killing the mouse even if they got revenge. they shouldn't have to get revenge, they're perfect and should be protected. Named the cat Miku after Hatsune Miku because when the cat was behind me in the chair when I brought it home I used miku as a stand in as the cat so I could break the fourth wall. I also had no problem whatsoever seeing the character I'm supposed to act as and me as the player as the same person (except at the point where rats were involved) which i usually have trouble with. ANYWAY SORRY FOR WRITING SUCH A LONG TEXT TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT READ THIS.

I RATE 10/10  FOR THIS IMMACULATE GAME

Oh my gosh, I hope you're okay and that you didn't hurt your lip too badly! I know that mouse part can be intense.

Thank you so much for playing and for your kind words! (I love long comments :D) I'm really glad to hear that you enjoyed the game and its story.

hey so uuh I like this game a lot and I wanted to share it with my friends but they aren't very comfortable with english, so I thought I could make a french translation for the game ?! If someone knows if it's possible or how I can contact the developper I would be nice : D

Hello! Thank you so much for playing!

Someone reached out to me about a French translation, but thank you very much for your kind offer! I'll let you know if it doesn't work out if you're still interested. If you'd like to message me, anyone can reach out via the Bluesky or Twitter links in my profile page :)

i probably shouldve read the warning before downloading the game just because it showed me a cat but i was very pleasantly surprised by what i got myself into

shit's awesome man, i will be downloading a second time so i can make a donation cause damn you deserve it

<3

That's very kind of you, I appreciate it! Thank you so much for playing, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the game!

Hey I downloaded it but I can't open the game. Can anybody tell me how to do so? Thanks in advance!

(-1)

whats your platform (win, linux or mac)?

Sorry for the late reply!

Once you download the game's zipped folder, you'll have to right-click on it to extract the game folder from the zipped folder. Once you do that, open the newly extracted folder and the game application icon will be there.

Hope this helps!

its been MONTHS since i finished the game but god i CANNOT get it out of my head i actually made a itch io account just to comment about this game and I LOVE IT i wish it was more popular (i need more content of it) its literally the most underrated game ever LOOK AT THAT SILLY LITTLE CAT WHAT COULD IT DO WRONG?? (so many things)  IT EVEN GAVE ME A MEDAL FOR COMPLETING THE GAME ON HARD MODE COME ON!! the way IT and mcs relationship was portrayed was also one of the things i loved it feels like the cat DOES love you in its own weird way but also enjoys playing with you and making you suffer IT needs you and this is also seen at the ending what i loved about that was how when IT spoke the sound effects were growling but then turned into little meows as you escaped/ as it lost power OH AND AND the way that it guides you throught the game and the choices you made WERE NOT EVEN YOUR OWN and how it manipulates your thoughts for you to be DISGUSTED and nauseous at the thought of throwing it out to a point you felt like puking like silly evil little thing i espically loved the dog park endings bc omg its so CLEARLY jealous and possessive the way IT warned you and just killed you (like usual) when you didnt turn back i was in between hating and loving IT the ENTIRE game cause like how dare you make the rats kill me AND THEN kill them for killing me?? but at the end i ended up loving IT i also wonder if it has a real name but i decided to name IT inky since its a black cat and can mold/change shapes like ink does depending on the container and how at the end IT kinda melted like ink good thing inky is a gender neutral name since we dont know its gender or if IT even has one lol. i could go on and on about this game for hours because IT has geniuely became one of my favourite characters ever and i NEED to know what IT is but my best guest rn is a dream demon or eldritch god i'd also guess that it lacks powers in the real world and tries to make you believe that it doesn't (if thats the case it succeeded because i don't even know anymore it problably has powers in the real world too but not some major stuff like in the dreams maybe a bit of telekinessis and mind control? i really wanna know what its capable of and how strong it is..) OH AND THE CINEMA HAT GUY THAT HELD IT WHEN WE GOT HIT BY A BUS IS IT JUST ANOTHER CLONE/CREATION OF IT OR MAYBE THEIR ITS OWNER?? and the line when we "killed it" "don't you know that cats have nine lives?" CHILLS. the same goes for the text "i'll always find uuuu OwO" i wish we could just take it home at the end and give it a redemption arc or something (even though thats problably not possible IT is abusive after all) and like IT can just feed off of the blood of ppl i don't like- at the end for a second i thought the cat was IT ngl AND AND the original ending where IT was gonna posses the kitten at the end i wish we got to see it (i heard about that from one of your replies bc i've been scrolling to get whatever content i can find..) but i can just imagine the horror on the mcs face if they saw the kittens eyes turn yellow.. i just wanna SQUEEZE it and give it all the pets cuddles and affection in the world (although it might bite off my fingers) for short I LOVE IT AND THIS GAME SO SO SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!! i even made stickers to put on my monitor- one is just IT's head and the other is IT's profile when it texts you and the text "YOU CAN'T HIDE" and "i'll always find uuuuu OwO"

..literally IT and the mc (if we choose to join IT that e is):https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS6PNMkXj/

^

Wow! Thank you so much for such an in-depth comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the game and its story, and you liked the cat as the main antagonist. I had a lot of fun writing IT and all of its wicked ways to mess with the MC. Inky is such a cute name <3 I avoided giving IT a definitive gender since I wanted it to feel kind of universal or limitless in a way. I like the idea of a creature of unknown origins with seemingly unbeatable power, but like IT says, It's quite powerful but also not so much :3 The original idea for the kitten being possessed was fun, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out :D

Thank you again for your kind words and thanks so much for playing!

I also love how the characters are similar to each other, how the cat likes the player because they resonate the same kind of  abandonment (from friends, family, etc.). The player seeks out the missing part of love that they wanted to receive but are struggling to find it and so when they met the cat, they thought that this could be the chance to try and piece out the part that they had once lost. As for the cat, I think they also need the attention (as stated many times from the game) they were looking for so they sort of suit each other, but the player gives too much (because of the fear of being abandoned again) and the cat takes more than they account for, kind of like a toxic relationship. BUT ANYWAYSSS I LOVE THE GAME SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!

Nice analysis! I like your interpretation of the similarities between the MC and the cat :D

(1 edit) (+3)

Bro this left me an empty feeling after playing it...kudos to the developers of this game  cuz I luv yall  (T~T) and im also a cat lover ^^

I'm a cat lover too! :D Thank you very much for playing!

Man, I fucking cried. legitimately, one of the best visual novels I’ve played in a long time, and I and I’ve played DDLC. If I had to pick which game I had to play before I died, I would pick this game.  I just completed the game 10 minutes ago and I am still sobbing my eyes out. I made I made a Itch.io account just to tell you this. Just to tell you how much I love this game man. This is probably gonna be the only game you may ever make, but from the bottom of my heart, please make another game. God, I’m still wiping away tears from when I burst out crying.

This really made my day... Thank you for your kind words! I'm really glad that you liked the game. Thank you so much for playing!

This game is really interesting and i had fun with it! thank you so much! <3

Thank you for trying it out! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This game genuinely made me SO HAPPY to have the urge to finish games. I LOVE THIS GAME. Totally might share it. but. that leaves me with one thing to think. Do I cling onto others like this? And.. Should I stop going to things that will kill me bit by bit?.. I think so.

Thanks. For making this game. (Even if the creator won't see this.)

I'm glad you liked the game and that its story was thought-provoking for you! Thank you so much for playing!

The
The honor I had to livestream such an amazing and visually haunting game on my channel today is sublime! I got 17 endings out of the 40 and it took me around 3hrs. This reminded me so much of Junji Ito with some of the art styles and a bit of Doki Doki. I will definitely be coming back to play more of this. This is peak and one of the best indie games I've played as of recent. 10/10

I had a lot of fun watching your reactions and hearing your theories as you progressed through the game! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. Thanks for trying the game out!

Absolutely phenomenal game. I enjoyed every part of it. Especially the quick-time moments.

The Final episode to this series on my channel. Well done. This game always made me want to come back and play more. Ending was satisfying and the deeper symbolism for the main character alone makes this game fantastic. 10/10. Thank you for making this game.

I've enjoyed watching you play the game all this time! Your reactions and thoughts (and the voice for the cat XD), it was all very engaging and entertaining! I'm so glad you liked the game and its story.  I know it took a while, but thank you for playing to the very end :')

(4 edits)

Man what an experience. Been waiting a while to play this one and it was definitely worth it. I'm even getting inspired to make my own fan continuation after the true ending. Simple-ish story with a lot packed into it to play though. If you ever make another game I'd be interested for sure ^^

spoilers(?)

Also I managed to complete the mirror maze on hard mode and it gave me a medal :3

I'd love to see what you come up with! No pressure though, even just the thought is enough :D I'm glad you liked the game! Thanks for playing!

Hope you liked the hard mode! >:D Good job beating it!

Well, I'll make some drawings at least.  I'll probably write a fanfiction or something when I have time. Would you like the links when and if I finish?

I thought it was going to be very strong because of the amount of warnings it had, but the truth is that I loved it, I also felt sorry for the cat, but that's the game, some incredible gems of games.

Thank you so much!
